Is there an end to this in sight??

Life in the time of Coronavirus has slogged on for a year now. It's not an original comment to say everyone is pretty much tired of it.  Nobody saw it coming. Maybe Bill Gates did have a clue, but nobody listened. It's been quite the adjustment. Bloggers have to stretch to come up with creative posts. I myself have taken to just scrolling through memes for hours on end and appropriating someone else's sense of humor. Some of us are turning to crafts sometimes to the annoyance of others. There are always tasks that need doing around the house. Remember saying, "When I get the time I'm going to . . ."? And yet Cooking, especially baking, has become popular. Of course eating has been elevated to a new status as well. DIY is a thing. I do like to make a lot of my own cleaning products to avoid noxious chemicals in my house. Not all accidents are bad, BTW. TV binging is a life saver for some of us. Self care schedules and routines have been altered. But maybe we a

Inappropriate Laughter

Margaret at Straight Up -- No Chaser  often makes me laugh. Today she wrote about her need for laughter and something that she and Rick call up that gets then laughing every time. It was an incident that is really not funny on the face of it, but the image sure made me laugh. I have been guilty of inappropriate laughter many times. I wish someone would just stop me when I decide to research certain subjects.  Gelastic seizures (GS) are a rare form of epilepsy characterized by inappropriate, uncontrolled laughter. They are highly associated with abnormal cognitive development and behavioral problems in patients. NBCI Pseudobulbar affect (PBA) is a condition that's characterized by episodes of sudden uncontrollable and inappropriate laughing or crying. Pseudobulbar affect typically occurs in people with certain neurological conditions or injuries, which might affect the way the brain controls emotion. Mayo Clinic It may not be all bad though. Travel Daydreams

It's pretty clear that my travel life was definitely on the wane anyway, but COVID-19 has pretty much made travel a non-starter for me. But that doesn't mean I can't still think about it, fantasize and dream. I took a quiz on Travel+Leisure to find my ideal beach vacation.  I answered a few questions and was matched up with . . .   Ipanema Beach, Rio de Jainero, Brazil Google image Maybe. Although my exotic beach vacations tended to be in places like Abaco in the Bahamas -- the kind my step-daughter once referred to as "one step above a deprivation tank." Some of my best vacation memories actually were in desert areas and I love mountain getaways too. Lot of time for daydreaming lately.

Pinterest Gets Me

And mornings/life are so much easier in retirement. Now I get why Don's nickname for me is Lucy. Everything really does have a purpose! An example of a craft I will surely never try:  Right and left are challenging enough! This happens! Fortunately I have a pretty good vocabulary and can usually just pick a synonym.

Happy Valentine's Day

WELLNESS VISIT

I had my wellness visit today. I am not 100% healthy -- blood pressure is sometimes high and kidney function slightly off so I am going on the DASH diet. But I am most happy to report that I passed the person, woman, man, camera, TV test, or at least a version thereof and my doctor pronounced me not demented.

Baby Blanket

I used to knit but carpal tunnel has kept me from that activity for quite some time now. I did try crochet and found that it did not bother so much. I knew the very basics but I have been teaching myself with how-to videos on YouTube. My step grandson now has two little boys. This is the blanket I made for the new baby. And I will send a "big brother" gift as well.
