It's pretty clear that my travel life was definitely on the wane anyway, but COVID-19 has pretty much made travel a non-starter for me. But that doesn't mean I can't still think about it, fantasize and dream.
I took a quiz on Travel+Leisure to find my ideal beach vacation. I answered a few questions and was matched up with . . .
Ipanema Beach, Rio de Jainero, Brazil
Maybe. Although my exotic beach vacations tended to be in places like Abaco in the Bahamas -- the kind my step-daughter once referred to as "one step above a deprivation tank."
Some of my best vacation memories actually were in desert areas and I love mountain getaways too.
Lot of time for daydreaming lately.
I did always enjoy the Bahamas. Perhaps because my family came back to the states from there.
ReplyDeleteThere is a big blank spot on your post. Don't know what was there. Anyway, my dream destination is just getting to the mailbox without slugging through a foot of snow:)
I miss travelling so much. My favorite beach is Reduit Beach on St. Lucia, even though it is a man made beach. The beach that most disappointed me was Waikiki Beach on Oahu. But these days, if I could dip my toes in the water I'd be happy to do so.
ReplyDeleteTake care, stay well.
Well, I live in Hawaii and rarely go to the beach. Lol.
ReplyDeleteOh dear. I just started to write something and it disappeared.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I was just saying that Art had signed us up again for our Viking trip next year with friends. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be safe. I'm not as confident as he is.
I've never been out of the US but I daydream of going to Scotland or Ireland. Right now I'd settle for a trip just about anywhere. I know it is in our future....
ReplyDeleteHa ha. I think we're all dreaming of sunny places on distant beaches. Keeps us sane!
ReplyDeleteDay dreaming is good. I really only like day trips.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to my next cruise. Got to get that vaccine first!

Glad you can enjoy your fantasy trips. Maybe you can make it a reality one day. Am reminded of that song I liked so well years ago -- The Girl From Impanema.
ReplyDeleteI haven't fantasized much about beaches as a light-skinned redhead who has had to beware of too much sun.
I am not much of a traveler, other than visiting my kids. Now that I have had my first COVID vaccine and the second is scheduled I am feeling eager to hit the trail again soon.
ReplyDeleteA warm beach in the Caribbean or Hawaii would be just what the doctor ordered!
