A Morning

Wake up. Good morning Weigh myself before getting dressed Once I gather all that stuff, I head out to do some errands. Meet a friend for lunch.   So ends the morning.

Back North

We have returned to Vermont. The trip was uneventful, which is the way one wants a long trip like that to be. No trouble finding gas although the price was not always friendly. Traffic around Washington to Baltimore is to be expected. It was slow but not completely stopped. I missed the crab apples in blossom and the lilac beside the deck has a pathetic display of blossoms this year. But the rhododendrons are in bloom and all the trees are nicely green. We had rain last night and I am watching a robin pluck worms out of the grass -- through the slider to the deck, windows badly in need of a wash. I am anxious to get things done around here and anxious to see Kevin and Amy, Dane and Kristen. They will have to come here though. I don't feel safe to drive yet. The gas bubble in my eye is shrinking and I can now see through the space above it. On one hand, that is encouraging because it tells me I will have vision back eventually. On the other hand, that little window of vision is giv

Trigger Warning: Political Opinion

I can go for long periods of time without watching the news, a skill developed and honed over the last five years or so. But then I start to wonder what I am missing or I have to stay on my belly for a week and I learn anew that there is some kind of parallel  universe out there. Why is it that those who so strongly feel it is a total violation of their God given rights to be told to wear a mask feel perfectly free to demand others take off their masks? If "Fox-itis" were a legitimate defense for getting caught up storming the Capital Building, should there be a public health warning posted at the beginning of each of their shows? The focus on election fraud has been going on for so long (long before the 2020 election even) I am starting to wonder if real investigation should be into the legitimacy of the 2016 election. No fan of Liz Cheney and her political ideology but to remove her while simultaneously declaring her party the big tent that welcomes open expression and expl

What to do?

Clearly the universe conspires to keep me in Florida. My plans to drive home were delayed by the detached retina. Don has flown down so that he could drive me back, but he is enjoying my place here so much he really seems inclined to stay a while. And of course now there is some question about getting gas along the east coast.

Celebrations

My special gentleman friend has arrived and we are taking a "vacation" before heading back to Vermont. Today's event will be a trip to St. Pete to see the Yankees play the Rays. On the way to the game we will stop at a couple of Harley dealers along the way. Yes, I am not really the one on vacation here, but the man did have the flight from hell to get here and he will drive me home so I do owe him a couple things he really enjoys. And, yes, even though he is a born and raised New Englander, he is a Yankee fan not Red Sox. Who knows if we will actually make it back to Vermont with the gas pipeline drama.   *** My Mother's Day celebration was calls from Kevin and Amy and otherwise a quiet, restful day. I did feel the celebration was the day before. I went to a gathering of  the women's writing group I have been doing on Zoom for the past 14 months. We have met weekly but many of the participants I had never really met in person so this was special. We spent the af

How I amused myself today

Okay, sometimes I spend too much time on memes. But let's admit it, sometimes they are really funny. Today I am including things that show that sometimes things not necessarily meant to be amusing can be hysterically funny. For example:  Really, what does it say about a life that can be so "profoundly" changed by binder clips? So where on the list of nineteen would you expect to see *be born with great genes or *be young and pretty? Not the tattoos, the pose There was a sequence of poses leading up to the flexibility to get yourself into this yoga asana. Unfortunately, I didn't start practicing them soon after my birth and I am pretty certain I don't have enough time left in this life to ever achieve this. So I just laugh at the thought. NEVER, EVER!! I have always lived in a household where there was only one use for the pickle juice according to the relatives and/or roomies who think it is meant for drinking. I know they can be annoying at times, but do we reall

Update

My eye surgery went well. That was the easy part! Recovery/healing is  a week of what looks like this: not me, a picture from the rental place A whole week in bed is far less fun than I thought it would be! Vision will return slowly. I have the best neighbors watching over me!
