Stalker

I don't know who this Scam Likely person is but they keep calling me  -- day after day and morning, noon and night.

Whoever it is seems to travel about the country but seems to spend most time in and all around the state of Florida.

I don't answer the phone when caller ID says Scam Likely. Some days I turn off the ringer. Who are we kidding? Most days I turn off the ringer.

I do wish that whoever it might be would just stop calling me.

grrr

I googled Scam Likely and found articles telling telemarketers how to avoid being marked as scam on caller ID. Thanks, Internet!

  1. Olga if you have verizon you can just block it. I have a little "i" in the corner and when I hit that I have the option to block it and to say person or scam. Never will hear from them again.

  2. Ooh, never had the warning of "spam likely" but if I don't know then, I don't answer. Sure wish some people had a life.

  3. I get scam callers all the time, but I don't dare turn off the ringer. I always answer the damn phone.

  5. Margaret, I don't have Verizon. Part of the problem is that they use a random generating number algorithm so it seems fruitless to block numbers.

Gigi, I figure if someone is calling for an important reason they will leave a message.

  6. What a nuisance! I've used a couple of methods - first I wait until a real person answers because there is usually a lag between my saying hello and their answer, and then I scream as loud as I can. It takes them a second to react and hang up. That works well most of the time.

Or I just pick up the phone and immediately hang it up so it stops ringing. Since I've done away with my land line and gone strictly cellular I don't have as many scammers but I sure wish my cell company had a spam likely ID as well.

  8. That's a scary baby!
I have never received a "Scam likely" message. I'm just on my own on that, I guess, but I just don't ever answer unless I know who's calling.

  9. I get both political calls and scammers. At least 4 or 5 a day sometimes. I never answer and I have a block call feature, but cannot seem to stay ahead.

  10. I know! Somehow we got on the Doordash list even tho' we've never used the service. Some days we get three or four calls, and more than once we've been woken up in the middle of the night. I called to complain. Did no good so far. Still trying.

  11. It's really crazy. Hawaiiantel told me that the numbers are computer generated so they can't stop them. She told me to put my number on the Do Not Call List. Perhaps it helped a very teeny tiny bit, but I don't think so. We're still getting them constantly. Annoying as heck!

  12. I love that photo. I rarely answer mine either. I get a lot of unidentified calls too. Can't imagine who they are but don't really care to find out. Like you, I wish they would just go away.

Updates

On September 29, I had the closing on my condo. Everything that was not going to the buyers was out and packed in the ABF moving truck which had by the been taken over to the storage units. Don thought it would take him until Wednesday to finish packing the truck with the help of his son. It took him until late Thursday with Chris' help and mine. Kevin was supposed to help load as well but he was in a mountain bike accident and wrecked his shoulder the week before. That added driving him to doctor appointments to my to do list and dong some shopping for him plus jobs around the house that might need two functioning upper limbs.  We stayed with Kevin on Friday night after the closing and then had a suite in an extended stay place for the coming week. This was the worst possible time to have to get a room because the prices balloon during leaf peeping season if you can even find a room at all. But it was close to the storage units where we were working and it was dog friendly. We ju

Wedding

Don and I drove to South Carolina to attend the wedding of my step-grandson, Will. Will Will and Katie The wedding took place on Dataw Island, a beautiful outdoor ceremony followed by a reception in the country club. We stayed in a tiny cottage in the historic center of Beaufort, rented from Vrbo. Since the wedding was at 5 p.m., we had time to explore the area a bit. I really like the low country scenery and historical charm. Sitting quietly in the curtained gazebo I was visited by multiple cardinals. They came to visit the feeder, not me, but I can always pretend! How I will always remember Will!

Rest In Peace

In a summer that has been so wet, Sunday was a reprieve. The humidity dropped and the sun came out. It was a day that could have been special ordered by the family of a friend's husband. It was the day they had arranged his celebration of life ceremony set on the shore of Lake Champlain. I was not looking forward to the gathering, even couched as a celebration. This is a family fraught with relationship tensions. It turned out to be a beautiful day and a beautiful ceremony. A Catholic priest gave a brief but meaningful homily and two Air Force members played "Taps" and presented the American flag to my friend. I am not a Christian, but I do know about Christ Consciousness. That priest's word's filled me with such a sense of peace and love. I hope it did the same for the family members and neighbors who attended.
