Stalker

I don't know who this Scam Likely person is but they keep calling me  -- day after day and morning, noon and night.

Whoever it is seems to travel about the country but seems to spend most time in and all around the state of Florida.

I don't answer the phone when caller ID says Scam Likely. Some days I turn off the ringer. Who are we kidding? Most days I turn off the ringer.

I do wish that whoever it might be would just stop calling me.

grrr

I googled Scam Likely and found articles telling telemarketers how to avoid being marked as scam on caller ID. Thanks, Internet!

  1. Olga if you have verizon you can just block it. I have a little "i" in the corner and when I hit that I have the option to block it and to say person or scam. Never will hear from them again.

  2. Ooh, never had the warning of "spam likely" but if I don't know then, I don't answer. Sure wish some people had a life.

  3. I get scam callers all the time, but I don't dare turn off the ringer. I always answer the damn phone.

  4. Margaret, I don't have Verizon. Part of the problem is that they use a random generating number algorithm so it seems fruitless to block numbers.

Gigi, I figure if someone is calling for an important reason they will leave a message.

  5. What a nuisance! I've used a couple of methods - first I wait until a real person answers because there is usually a lag between my saying hello and their answer, and then I scream as loud as I can. It takes them a second to react and hang up. That works well most of the time.

Or I just pick up the phone and immediately hang it up so it stops ringing. Since I've done away with my land line and gone strictly cellular I don't have as many scammers but I sure wish my cell company had a spam likely ID as well.

  7. That's a scary baby!
I have never received a "Scam likely" message. I'm just on my own on that, I guess, but I just don't ever answer unless I know who's calling.

  8. I get both political calls and scammers. At least 4 or 5 a day sometimes. I never answer and I have a block call feature, but cannot seem to stay ahead.

  9. I know! Somehow we got on the Doordash list even tho' we've never used the service. Some days we get three or four calls, and more than once we've been woken up in the middle of the night. I called to complain. Did no good so far. Still trying.

  10. It's really crazy. Hawaiiantel told me that the numbers are computer generated so they can't stop them. She told me to put my number on the Do Not Call List. Perhaps it helped a very teeny tiny bit, but I don't think so. We're still getting them constantly. Annoying as heck!

  11. I love that photo. I rarely answer mine either. I get a lot of unidentified calls too. Can't imagine who they are but don't really care to find out. Like you, I wish they would just go away.

It's TIme

It's been a while since I have posted anything and even my reading your posts is falling by the wayside. I am in Florida now. I have a yard where little attention was spent on landscaping for the past years so I am slowly and (somewhat) methodically addressing that. I also volunteer to work at the pollinator garden and the edible garden I helped install at the UU grounds and I took over the volunteer job of cleaning out the overgrown community garden by my neighborhood mailboxes. The neighbor who was doing that got sick and could no longer attend to it. It's a bigger job than I'd thought at first -- not only overgrown with weeds, but the plants that are wanted there are in life and death competition for each others' spaces. And two walks a day, morning and evening, so Levi can keep up with addiction to canine social media and a daily rousing came of stick or ball midday take up another chunk of my time. I have a weekly meditation group that I co-facilitate, and my own ...

Walking

I have always been a walker. Now that I have a high energy dog there is no excuse for not getting out there. And the weather is not an interfering factor here. Early morning and early evening are our preferred times so even when it gets hot we should be okay. We can get quite a long walk going around the neighborhood, greeting neighbors out working in their yards or walking their own dogs. But the landscape changes quickly just beyond the confines of the housing developments. It could be described as natural Florida or as sites of future housing developments. I do prefer the first option. And I really enjoy being out in natural areas so I often opt to head to a nature setting. I would have liked to put a picture here. Unfortunately my iPhone has made a unilateral decision. It will no longer be sending my photos to my computer. Why? I have no idea. However, we may be walking along happily enough -- me listening to the birds or trying to identify wildflowers and other plants while L...

Wedding

Don and I drove to South Carolina to attend the wedding of my step-grandson, Will. Will Will and Katie The wedding took place on Dataw Island, a beautiful outdoor ceremony followed by a reception in the country club. We stayed in a tiny cottage in the historic center of Beaufort, rented from Vrbo. Since the wedding was at 5 p.m., we had time to explore the area a bit. I really like the low country scenery and historical charm. Sitting quietly in the curtained gazebo I was visited by multiple cardinals. They came to visit the feeder, not me, but I can always pretend! How I will always remember Will!
