Okay. I read this in the news: 5 steps to make you feel more in control during a quarantine.I am not really in quarantine per se, but I am living alone and physically isolating so I thought it might be useful.
1. Take a shower. I was a bit surprised that needed to be said, but there was the extra kick of ending with a few seconds' blast of cold water. Well, maybe. I have been feeling groggy some mornings.
2. Change your clothes. I have a couple of pull over my head dresses that I find quite comfy or I have my yoga pants and a tee. I have enough to do clean every day and a load of laundry or two each week.
One of the street crew ran over my mailbox and I did have to run into my bedroom to throw on a bra before he knocked on the door to tell me about it. Otherwise if I tweeted it would be something like LIBERATE THE GIRLS!
3. Make your bed.
4. Spend 10 minutes a day decluttering.
5. Get some fresh air.
I must be a control freak OR mentally healthy because my reaction to these suggestions is "DUH!" And don't think I don't know who is putting me into which category!
I did have a lovely conversation with a spider that was hiding behind my yoga mat this morning.
Yes, DUH. It must be that as retired folks we already know how to keep ourselves occupied to just the level of activity we want. That, and we are civilized, after all.
ReplyDeleteOh yes on liberating the girls. I am just grateful for bulky warm clothes right now so I can at least go to the mailbox untethered.
ReplyDeleteThose are all things listed in every article speaking of depression and anxiety before the pandemic. All very Duh.
ReplyDeleteMy life isn't a great deal different. I am not retired and I am not depressed. I work from home and if I did not have to go out and walk the dog my girls would be liberated!!!! The best part of winter is walking the dog in a parka and no one knows there is no bra under that big bulky coat. But it's warm now damn it. :-)
I know what you mean. These days are living proof of the law of inertia. We're all grinding to a halt, and so we have to make an effort to make the bed, walk outside, take a shower, change clothes.
ReplyDeletehaha. As for me, I never wear a bra. No need for one.
ReplyDeleteI had a conversation with a spider the other day, too. She was a web designer.
ReplyDeleteWeb designer! I love it.
ReplyDeleteAs for keeping busy and content, mask making is done for a while... but after that... maybe decluttering and cleaning up would be a good thing to do.
