We had quite the rain storm early this morning. A total of four inches. Lots of lightning and thunder too.
It always kind of amazes me how much the rain sits in puddles here. It seems like the soil is all dry sand. You'd think the rain would just sink into the ground and disappear, but it doesn't. Something about the water table.
When I got up this morning, I discovered that the rain had not only puddles outside on the road and the lawn. It had puddled quite convincingly inside the laundry room door. I am not sure what the problem is, but I had to find a Florida handyman.
I got some recommendations. I went with a guy named Joe. Why complicate my life? Vermont Handyman is named Joe.
I will let you know the result of this highly sophisticated method of choosing help.

I'm sorry you had to call a handyman, but I love your logic on why you went with Joe.
ReplyDeletePuddles indoors are such a pain. We had a similar problem about 10 years ago and fixed it by installing a higher rubber threshold.
ReplyDeleteI guess moving to a higher spot is out of the question if you want to stay in the state....
ReplyDeleteIsn't every handyman named Joe?
Oh dear...global climate change as Florida is sinking. It seems that Miami floods almost always when heavy rains arrive. Hope your handy man works out. Here, where I live, the expensive ones are the only really dependable both in repair and showing up on time.
ReplyDeleteWith 4 inches of rain, I am not surprised you have a puddle or two. That is a hell of rain.
ReplyDeleteI hope Joe can fix the problem.
Ugh, nothing worse than indoor rain! Hope your Joe does a good job!
ReplyDeleteLove your logic! Hope the issue is easily remedied.
ReplyDeleteA good handyman is worth his weight in the expensive stuff. Hope he turns out to be a dandy and the problem is easily fixed. Let us know.
ReplyDeletePain about the laundry rom puddle. Hope it is only a minor inconvenience
ReplyDeleteYou're funny! I hope Florida Joe works out.
ReplyDeleteI love that both your handyman are named Joe. When I was a teenager I once dated 2 Dans at the same time and had myself convinced that was OK! I keep hearing and seeing more and more about the sink holes in Florida -- be safe!
ReplyDeleteWhat were your choices? If they were Joe, Fred or Hank I might have had a problem. LOL
ReplyDeleteMy handyman is named Jim and he is coming at 8:30 tomorrow morning to see why the subfloor in the bathroom is wet. We got some of that same rain last week, here in Arizona. It must have moved east.
ReplyDeleteJoe sounds good to me!
ReplyDeleteOh, no! I hope you get around this.
ReplyDeleteIt's pouring snow here. My hubby is Joe! He can't lift a tool. Doesn't know how to do it!!!!
Good luck.
I hope Joe can fix your problem. Four inches is a lot of rain. Where I live the rain just soaks into the ground or runs down the hill so we don't have standing water which is good because we'd be inundated with mosquitoes otherwise.
