One of Those Days

One of those days...you know the kind I mean, where nothing goes right, nothing goes according to plan, it feels like your world is cracking and falling apart.  I have had a couple of those in a row now.

Every thing looks fine:

And then a sudden ROAR of wind and the flower baskets went crashing and the chairs went sliding across the deck.  It only lasted a minute and then the rain came.  That's how it goes sometimes.

  1. Gee, that's awful. But, you are right, life is like that.
    Beautiful flowers and scenery, though.

  2. I know those kinds of days -- you just want to scream! I absolutely love your view from the deck -- it's gorgeous. And you reminded me that we have to get our hanging baskets up!

  3. Well, not being unsympathetic, but this is the least of things that could have gone wrong on this day. You have a lovely deck with a really lovely view.

    1. Oh, it was the least of things, believe me. It was just the symbolic thing for me.

  4. They usually come in threes. Be prepared.
Love your yard and at least you got it mowed before the rain.

  5. What a lovely view you have! The flowers are icing on the cake. Sometimes the cake falls.

  6. Two weeks ago my daughter's family was staying here between moves. My son-in-law was in the shop outside when we all heard a very loud boom. He came running out and said he felt a quake. I thought it was noise from the rock quarry nearby, but returning to my house I found all the items on my bedroom dresser had crashed into the floor. Lamp, perfume bottles, statues, dollies, etc. Still we never heard any reports of an earthquake.

  7. Life is cyclical, or at least our attention to it is. Highs and lows. This week has been a rough patch for you no doubt, but think back when you wrecked your bike. Ultra concentrated crappy day there...cops, tickets, ERs, insurance, pain, bruises, wrecked bike.

Perhaps you had too much fun with your grandson last weekend, the Universe is extracting some payment. Next week will be neutral.

  8. I'm sorry to hear things haven't been going well. I hope this week is a better one!

Your view is absolutely beautiful, enjoy!

  9. That is definitely how it goes hereabouts. Happy June.

  10. Oh yes that is so true Olga. I recently lost my mom and now other family members are in hospital. Seems everything all at once. I love your view and hope your week gets better.

  11. Your deck and your view really is wonderful and I'm sure it helps but some days (weeks) things just don't go right. I hope they are lots better by now. I think the planets must have been in a strange arrangement the last few days because it has been difficult for a lot of people I know. Do hope it is better.

  12. Wow! You have such a beautiful view. I love seeing all that glorious emerald green. We often get those sudden showers too. On the other hand, we don't get those thunderstorms very often though.

It's TIme

It's been a while since I have posted anything and even my reading your posts is falling by the wayside. I am in Florida now. I have a yard where little attention was spent on landscaping for the past years so I am slowly and (somewhat) methodically addressing that. I also volunteer to work at the pollinator garden and the edible garden I helped install at the UU grounds and I took over the volunteer job of cleaning out the overgrown community garden by my neighborhood mailboxes. The neighbor who was doing that got sick and could no longer attend to it. It's a bigger job than I'd thought at first -- not only overgrown with weeds, but the plants that are wanted there are in life and death competition for each others' spaces. And two walks a day, morning and evening, so Levi can keep up with addiction to canine social media and a daily rousing came of stick or ball midday take up another chunk of my time. I have a weekly meditation group that I co-facilitate, and my own ...

Walking

I have always been a walker. Now that I have a high energy dog there is no excuse for not getting out there. And the weather is not an interfering factor here. Early morning and early evening are our preferred times so even when it gets hot we should be okay. We can get quite a long walk going around the neighborhood, greeting neighbors out working in their yards or walking their own dogs. But the landscape changes quickly just beyond the confines of the housing developments. It could be described as natural Florida or as sites of future housing developments. I do prefer the first option. And I really enjoy being out in natural areas so I often opt to head to a nature setting. I would have liked to put a picture here. Unfortunately my iPhone has made a unilateral decision. It will no longer be sending my photos to my computer. Why? I have no idea. However, we may be walking along happily enough -- me listening to the birds or trying to identify wildflowers and other plants while L...

Wedding

Don and I drove to South Carolina to attend the wedding of my step-grandson, Will. Will Will and Katie The wedding took place on Dataw Island, a beautiful outdoor ceremony followed by a reception in the country club. We stayed in a tiny cottage in the historic center of Beaufort, rented from Vrbo. Since the wedding was at 5 p.m., we had time to explore the area a bit. I really like the low country scenery and historical charm. Sitting quietly in the curtained gazebo I was visited by multiple cardinals. They came to visit the feeder, not me, but I can always pretend! How I will always remember Will!
