Don gave me some books for my birthday. Lanais are common in Florida but the origin is Hawaiian.
The author is best known for her cookbooks. She had a newspaper column for a number of years. She also writes children stories and weaves the history and culture of Hawaii into her writings.
I call this bedside table reading because it is interesting without being so captivating that it keeps me awake all night. (The story itself was kind of predictable but sweet.)
There was a time when I would have liked the chance to see Hawaii, but I doubt now that I ever will -- although never say never! My travel bug is definitely in a lull at the moment.
Hi Olga, just my 2 cents worth regarding Hawaii... Never even occurred to me to see Hawaii before my son and his wife moved to Oahu. Visited them there in 2019 - and fell in love with the lava beaches and little quiet coves where we would go to have coffee.
ReplyDeleteI've only been to Hawaii once, in Oahu, many years ago. We got an incredible airfare and I'm so glad we went. It's so different from other islands I've been to, incredibly beautiful, and the Hawaiian people are so friendly.
ReplyDeleteVery sweet to have such a nice gift. Well, I live on Oahu, was born and raised here. It's just a rock in the Pacific, but what a rock it is!
ReplyDeleteMine was Tuscany. I no longer have that life so it's now just a dream. waw waw. :-)
ReplyDeleteI've been wondering how your Vermont property is doing through this flooding. I'm like you about Hawaii. I'd love to go but don't really have the energy even if I had the money. Ok, well maybe I'd find the energy if I had the money. LOL.
ReplyDeleteKay of Musings: Since I live in Hawaii, I guess I take it for granted. With all the places we’ve visited, I think New Zealand impressed us the most for its beauty and lovely, friendly people.
