Bedside Table Reading

Don gave me some books for my birthday. Lanais are common in Florida but the origin is Hawaiian. The author is best known for her cookbooks. She had a newspaper column for a number of years. She also writes children stories and weaves the history and culture of Hawaii into her writings. I call this bedside table reading because it is interesting without being so captivating that it keeps me awake all night. (The story itself was kind of predictable but sweet.) There was a time when I would have liked the chance to see Hawaii, but I doubt now that I ever will -- although never say never! My travel bug is definitely in a lull at the moment.

I Dream of a Simpler Time

A better time A time without passwords Or Usernames I have all these situations happen -- so not even funny! Does anyone really believe technology has made life easier?

Fleeting

Last Monday I told myself to take a picture of the rhododendrons in glorious bloom, but I didn't listen to myself. Tuesday, I left early to take Levi to the groomer and then go to visit my daughter. Wednesday was a rainy day. On Thursday, I took my phone to take the picture. Time and rain did no favors for the glory of full blooming. But here is just a hint. But other things take over the show. These daisies are filling fields where we often see a deer -- but only if she jumps up out of the tall grass. I love this combination. I have heard these referred to as Japanese lilacs. Regular lilacs have gone by completely. These bloom later, look pretty, but do not have the the lilac scent that perfumes the air in earlier spring.

June

I am glad to be back in Vermont appreciating just how beautiful it is at this time of year. Iris are my favorites, and lavendar about to bloom comes in a close second. There's a lot to do, but I took the time to just relax after the long drive back. Levi has adjusted quite well. I sure the condo is filled with our scents so he felt at home and quickly established a routine. A short walk in the morning with a stop for a game of chase the tennis ball and a long walk in the evening. Breakfast at eight and dinner at four. I swear he can tell time.  Well, projects will have to start soon but I am off to see my daughter and grandson tomorrow. Granddaughter Kristen has gone to Tennessee. I love June.
