Smart Pup

I know we all think our children are above average in smarts and charm. Same goes for our pets.

How smart is this guy? Levi even knows how to take himself for a walk on his leash.

Favorite toys: knotted up rag tee shirt for playing fetch and a half gallon empty mile carton with sticks rattling inside.  Cheap date!

  6. Who knows...Levi might end up on stage some day. Don't know what I would do without my pups to keep me entertained.

Wedding

Don and I drove to South Carolina to attend the wedding of my step-grandson, Will. Will Will and Katie The wedding took place on Dataw Island, a beautiful outdoor ceremony followed by a reception in the country club. We stayed in a tiny cottage in the historic center of Beaufort, rented from Vrbo. Since the wedding was at 5 p.m., we had time to explore the area a bit. I really like the low country scenery and historical charm. Sitting quietly in the curtained gazebo I was visited by multiple cardinals. They came to visit the feeder, not me, but I can always pretend! How I will always remember Will!

Alternative Intelligence

Here's what can happen when one blindly follows technology's artificial intelligence (or what Kellyanne Conway might term "alternative intelligence). Smugglers' Notch Road in Stowe, VT, is a popular tourist stop during our lovely Vermont summers.  Part of route 108, it winds up, over, and down a steep mountain. There are sharp turns and narrows. There are also road signs warning truckers not to take the route no matter what one's GPS might be directing drivers to do.  GPS simply considers the road a short cut. Apparently, truck drivers love themselves a short cut. Seven trucks got stuck on the road in 2020. Assistance in getting these trucks unstuck is arduous and costly. Signs are posted that warn truckers not to attempt the route and inform drivers of substantial fines. The first truck of this year got stuck yesterday -- last night at 11:30 PM actually.  The driver: Yes, I saw the signs but I was following my GPS. The Florida man was fined $3,500 and will be re

Sadness

The phone rings. I don't recognize the number and assume it is just another robocall. But later I see that there is message so I listen."This is Diane's daughter. Can you give me a call back." This is immediate cause for worry. Oh, no. Diane must be sick. maybe even in the hospital? I call back with trepidation. But . . . Never would I have thought it could be that my friend had died unexpectedly. My friend who was so full of life, so active, so very vital, strong, and health conscious. My heart aches in the realization that she is not in this world now. Perhaps it is that she is in a better world and with the love of her life, but I still will miss her terribly. Diane
