Linda Reeder was so right in her comment to my last post. The humans are being trained.
I was concerned about how fast Levi inhaled his food. Granny Annie mentioned a dish that was designed to slow down a dog's eating so I checked it out and bought one.
First try dinner went from a one minute, 45 second affair to five and a half minutes on Friday night. About five minutes for his two meals on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday morning. Sunday supper -- he picked up the dish and carried it until some spilled out. He set down his dish and ate his kibble off the floor.
I don't think I will give the dish high marks but I think the puppy is quite clever.
I will stop being an obnoxious new puppy parent soon.
You're a teacher, Olga. I'm sure you'll come up with the perfect lesson plan for this cutie.
ReplyDeleteoh don't! I am living vicariously through you. I so want a new dog but I know we can't at this time. It's true. You are being trained. Caesar Milan is right, he trains people and then they can help the dog. Our dog never chewed anything he shouldn't. Never went in the house. She learned things quickly and hated that bowl that someone bought us like yours. She ate so fast and we just gave up. She out grew it. She realized no other puppies were going to take her food away. Give it time. My dog wouldn't even get on the sofa if the blanket wasn't on it. She would put her face there as if to say, "hey where's the blanket I want to get up here?" As soon as I got it and put it on the sofa, she knew she was allowed up there. It takes time but it will happen. Enjoy all the phases. It's like kids. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a Clever Canine! Might have to glue the dish to the floor. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I left my dog in NYC in 1975 when I returned to Hawaii. Don't want another one.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny! Yep, clever dog when food is the motivator. That's why trainers always carry treats.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that the dog dish worked for a while and I think your pup is brilliant to have dumped it out and eaten off the floor.
ReplyDeleteAmart pup, as well as cute! Enjoy.
