Well, we are heading south. Who knows exactly what we will find for remnants of Ian.
I talked to people in Venice after Nicole and they were quite blasé. People seem to carry on in one way or another.
In case you think this is a crazy plan. snow is predicted for the coming week. It's time.
I spent the past week mostly dining -- lunch with my sister, lunch with a friends, lunch with Amy and Dane, supper with Kevin. I will be missing all, but then I look forward to seeing my Florida peeps.
Don is packing up today. He insists on driving even though I have driven myself many times and actually quite like the trip. He thinks I am too naive to spend that much time alone on the road. Worrywort.
I've had all kinds of things packed for a couple of months. My plan was to have sold the condo by now but then with the hurricane we decided to hang on to it until we were sure about the place in Florida. And Don is still neck deep (well maybe down to chest level now) in his business projects. He'll take a "vacation" for a month or two and fly back pack up later. I'm quite sure there will be plenty of projects for him in our FL neighborhood. He's very generous with his handyman skills.
Safe travels!
ReplyDeleteSafe travels! Funny that he thinks you can't do the drive when you've done it before.
ReplyDeleteHe did have the oil changed in my car and had the tires rotated. These are things I don't even think about until a red light comes on the dash.
DeleteIt's a luxury to own 2 homes. I understand your dilemma. Oh, well, your life is interesting, so enjoy it. Safe travels!
ReplyDeleteI sure hope you find everything just fine when you get there. I am like you and love to drive but I also love being a passenger. It is nice to be able to gawk around and not have to stay between the lines all the time.
ReplyDeleteWith his handyman skills, Don should be quite popular. My brother is handy also and he always is welcome.
Have a safe and fun trip.
Wishing you safe travels and shelter from the storms.
ReplyDeleteStay safe and well. Enjoy the trip. Hope everything at your FL home is fine.
ReplyDeleteOn the Road Again. Hearing Willie singing in my head. I've never been a long distance driver but I'm glad for you that you can.
ReplyDeleteThe repair will take at least a year in Florida to even begin to return to normal, having been through someting similar. Then the hurricane season will start again and hit someplace new. Sadly.
ReplyDeleteMy fingers are crossed for you too. I've always been amazed at the long distance driving that you do. You are very brave.
