I was keeping an eye on the Florida weather. I didn't really want to but I kept getting alerts from the power company and the city emergency preparedness office. I also got a text message from the woman who does a regular check on my place, letting me know she would be keeping me updated.
This morning my phone was buzzing with weather warnings -- hurricane, sea surge, river flooding and possible tornado. Pick you own disaster?
I signed into Zoom for the writing group based in Venice at 12:30. The sun was out and all was calm. I got a text from the caretaker that all was well, the storm was much milder than expected.
They say that the hurricane season starts in June, but this seems like an early one all the same.
In the meantime, I am reading Natalie Goldberg's Thunder and Lightening: Cracking Open the Writer's World.
I worry that the hurricane season will get longer with harder storms. All we can do is prepare and wait. I'm glad this one was no problem for you but I know the watching and waiting is nerve-wracking.
ReplyDeleteWhew. glad that blew over you mildly! Hurricanes, tornados, fires, and earthquakes are not anything I'd want. Snow is easiest to handle for me. I suppose you could have a roof cave in from all the heavy snow but I'd still take my chances with snow over the others.
ReplyDeleteAh the price for living in paradise. The worst thing about hurricanes is the almost too much advance notice. Then figuring out where it is really going.
ReplyDeleteSo glad your property was spared and it is good that you have companies and people looking out for you. My family were all spared any damage also.
Whew! Dodged the bullet once again.
ReplyDeleteSo glad Elsa turned out to be mild. Seems like we're getting more strange weather lately. Guess it's climate change. Not much we can do about it, but try to be prepared.
ReplyDeleteIt's good news that Elsa was a mild visitor. We can use good news. too much news is bad these days.
ReplyDeleteThat is good news. Such storms and fires in N.A.
ReplyDeleteGlad everything's okay.
