There is nothing like restrictions on mingling with other people to make one truly appreciative of how precious time with those we really love can be.
My son Kevin was able to visit me in Florida just before the virus blew up life as we know it. It was on the radar but we were were outside soaking up the sun -- hiking, kayaking, walks on the beach, biking. It was a few days of pure happiness for me.
Over the summer, the numbers in Vermont were low. I was able to spend time with my grandson although we had to give up vacation travel plans and we did not spend the amount of time we usually do.
No ballgames this summer though.
But we did get together for outdoor fun and to celebrate summer birthdays, Thanksgiving and the Winter Solstice.
The yoga studio had to shut down. My son sent me to an online site -- Do Yoga With-Me -- that has kept me

I co-taught a youth religious education program over the summer.
I met regularly with the Venice, FL meditation group.
I was able to keep up with VT poetry group even in winter.
I was able to continue with Venice poetry group even in summer.

Don recently moved out of his apartment and moved in with me.
A big step that makes me happy.

2020 is not going to be described as the best year ever, but I can look back and see good things. I have a loving family and very good friends both near and far. I have been healthy and active. I have much to be grateful for and I am grateful.
Congrats on you and Don living together!! You had a pretty good year considering. I have not seen my family since summer of last year. I'd hug people I dislike at this point!
ReplyDeleteThank you for writing about the positive aspects for this year. I know that I am fortunate for this to be the case, but I had plenty of good moments too.
ReplyDeleteLots of happy things in your life and I most envy your having a new companion to share your space. Merry Christmas to you both.
ReplyDeleteYes, Olga, we must be grateful for what we do have... and it sounds like you are doing OK. Here's hoping you and yours have a Merry Christmas and continue to stay safe and healthy!
ReplyDeleteThat is just plain wonderful, Olga. I am proud of you, my friend.
ReplyDeleteYou're way ahead of me on the technology side of things. My older brother has invited me to a drop-in Zoom call on Christmas Day. It will my first attempt at this option.
ReplyDeleteYou are correct, there have been positive moments this year. Although my social circle has not been able to meet in person, phone calls are definitely up this year. And I've been fortunate to keep my daughter and grandson in my bubble for most the of the year, I've been able to spend time with them and even get hugs!
Congrats on your new living arrangements. Take care and stay well!
Congrats, you have a roomie! That is the best news.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what I'd do here. Probably have to move into town.
Congratulations to you and Don! Hope you had a great Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful! Here's to a happier 2021!
