My friend Don is a Yankee fan but he has gotten so he tries not to watch the games (when there are games). He says that the Yankees can be on a winning streak for six games in a row when he is not able to watch and then lose the next six games when he is watching. Jinx.
This percolated in my puny brain for a while and then I came up with a new political strategy. I am going to start supporting Trump because my favored candidates rarely win. Is that genius or what?
So on the news this morning I heard that the wild fire season has gotten longer and more widespread due to climate change. "Ha!" I shouted at the newscaster. "It's not climate change. It's clearly failure to rake the forest floors."
I heard Woodward tapes that suggest Trump knew that COVID 19 was worse than he let on and some are suggesting that Trump actually lied to the American people. What? He sometimes likes to joke (get a sense of humor, people) but this time he was trying to keep everyone calm. C'mon, we all tell little white fibs to keep the peace.
And on it goes.
There was a story about the operation to take out Bin Laden and the role of a model of the compound. We should celebrate those heroes -- except for the helicopter pilot who crashed into a wall. What a loser.
That's when Don told me to put a sock in it,
but he'll appreciate me in November.
Sometimes you don't get what you wish for.
ReplyDeleteThis is quite droll, your post! I love it.
ReplyDeleteThat strategy sounds as good as any. Whatever it takes to stay sane AND get that liar in chief out of the White House.
ReplyDeleteGood "tongue in cheek" post. I needed that.
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I wouldn't put it past IQ45 to cheat his way back into office.
ReplyDeletePretty good imitation of a Trump supporter. Hey, if it works, go for it. I haven't the stomach to even fake it.
ReplyDeleteI hope that works for us!
ReplyDeleteAnd here I thought it was only me who put the jinx on things. Well, at least I know I'm in good company!
ReplyDeleteI wanted Mickey Mouse to be the candidate, and he isn't, so I'm not going to vote.
ReplyDeleteMy husband had the same jinx complex on those only periodic instances when his favored alma mater college team’s game was televised for airing in our market. As for your plan to influence the election outcome — whatever works! You do have it down pat for how our leader’s supporters think.
ReplyDeleteHow funny. Word right out of my mouth. What's bad is that they (the trumpsters) hate us as bad as we hate them. No peace in the near future.
