No one has ever accused me of being high maintenance.

I do consider it a treat to have my nails done but I can give myself a manicure/pedicure easily enough and since I get charged the same when I confound the staff by insisting "no polish" nail salons do not make it anywhere on my list of essential services.

I need a haircut though.

There is no way I am going to take scissors to my own hair as the results would be something like this:

Parents share funny photos of kids who cut their own hair | Daily ...Google image that captures it!

I miss Joseph, who does cuts my hair and sings while he does it. I miss my short and shorter hair.

Yeah, I need a haircut . . . or at least a comb!

  1. Olga, you made me laugh. My hair looks similar to yours. DH cuts the length for me, but the rest just lays there with no shape. However, I just can't bring myself to get a haircut - yet.
As for my nails, I keep them relatively short for my pottery. Had nails done at a salon once for my daughter's wedding in 2000 and ended up with a slight cuticle infection - never again.

  2. I don't cut my own hair, either, though I did when I was single and poor. I like my hair one length to cover my bald spots.

  3. Oh, you are not alone! I have actually trimmed my own hair around my face a couple of times, and soon I may look like I have a bowl cut, but there is no way I can cut the back or layer cut it. The grow out has been interesting.

  4. Olga did your hair grow from that first pic to the 2nd during quarantine? WOW My hair doesn't grow that fast. Come on over I'll cut your hair. :-)Wear a mask though. ...tee hee

  5. Not entirely. That it about a year's worth of difference although I was letting it grow out some I was getting regular trims until the last one in early January. I pull it back in a ponytail most of the time because it it so hot on my nick.

  6. I would do a pony tail--I'm just not long enough for that yet. I am so close this weekend of taking the scissors to my hair. I figure what I mess up I can hide with a perm--yes also self inflicted. Pray for me.

  7. My hair looked very much like yours until mid-afternoon today. I took a chance and masked up went to the hair salon for a cut. There are no active cases in my city...at least reported...so I thought it was a risk worth taking. I feel human now.

    Take care and stay well!

  9. Mine was the longest it's been since I was in my 30's. I couldn't stand it anymore and went 2 weeks ago to the salon. My stylist came in early on a Monday, and I was the only customer there. It felt wonderful to have it out of my face! Glad you got back to VT safely.

  10. Wow. Your hair really has grown. I was using the Grand Girls' hair do-dads until I was able to get a trim a couple of weeks ago. My hair is just the right length now and I hate to think how long it will be before I can get another haircut. I love getting out of the shower with wet hair, hitting it with the towel and then running out the door. I think it is going to be a long, hot summer for me and my hair.

  12. So weird. I just wrote a comment and it disappeared. Hmmmm...
I was just saying I really love your shorter haircut. I like my hair short too. However, I think you look great with a longer length too.Granted a comb would help. LOL

It's TIme

It's been a while since I have posted anything and even my reading your posts is falling by the wayside. I am in Florida now. I have a yard where little attention was spent on landscaping for the past years so I am slowly and (somewhat) methodically addressing that. I also volunteer to work at the pollinator garden and the edible garden I helped install at the UU grounds and I took over the volunteer job of cleaning out the overgrown community garden by my neighborhood mailboxes. The neighbor who was doing that got sick and could no longer attend to it. It's a bigger job than I'd thought at first -- not only overgrown with weeds, but the plants that are wanted there are in life and death competition for each others' spaces. And two walks a day, morning and evening, so Levi can keep up with addiction to canine social media and a daily rousing came of stick or ball midday take up another chunk of my time. I have a weekly meditation group that I co-facilitate, and my own ...

New Furniture

We went shopping for a new couch. I liked this one, the first store we went to. Of course it would be an impulse to buy the first one so we trekked around to other stores -- something we liked more, a better deal? No surprise that we ended up going back to that first store the next day and purchasing that couch for our living room. Also a matching love seat for the den where we watch TV. Because I had replaced my old love seat with two recliners. We couldn't keep three households worth of furniture after all. Well, my recliner was not big enough to accommodate both Levi and me. Poor boy had to watch TV from his bed on the floor. There! This is much better! Spoiled much? The little tail on the floor belongs to his toy squirrel, Buddy. It's like having a toddler with the need to be picking up toys or risk tripping over them. But his very favorite play thing is that bathmat that can be found anywhere but the bathroom floor.

Walking

I have always been a walker. Now that I have a high energy dog there is no excuse for not getting out there. And the weather is not an interfering factor here. Early morning and early evening are our preferred times so even when it gets hot we should be okay. We can get quite a long walk going around the neighborhood, greeting neighbors out working in their yards or walking their own dogs. But the landscape changes quickly just beyond the confines of the housing developments. It could be described as natural Florida or as sites of future housing developments. I do prefer the first option. And I really enjoy being out in natural areas so I often opt to head to a nature setting. I would have liked to put a picture here. Unfortunately my iPhone has made a unilateral decision. It will no longer be sending my photos to my computer. Why? I have no idea. However, we may be walking along happily enough -- me listening to the birds or trying to identify wildflowers and other plants while L...
