I am going with an allergic reaction. For one thing, I walked out the door today and immediately started sneezing and sneezing. My nose has been running and my eyes started itching.
I have allergic symptoms sometimes. It's not consistent, like always in the spring during pollen season. I think I have a sensitivity that requires a critical amount of irritating stuff in the air.
I bought some Clariton, non-drowsy. That's what it said, non-drowsy. So I took one. I woke up four hours later -- groggy but my sinuses seemed dried up all right.
The most annoying symptom is a dry, hacking, non-productive cough. It leaves my chest burning and my throat dry and scratchy. I now what to do about that. Tiger Balm.
I know it is supposed to be for achy muscles but I rub this stuff on my chest and feel the warmth all the way down to my bones. I rub some on my throat and the pain lessens considerably. I do have to be careful to wash my hands before I touch anywhere near my face. My cough stops.
Note: I am not a doctor but I often watch them on T

Glad you are finding some relief. It seems an odd time of the year for mold, though. At least to this old southern Californian broad. Feel better!
ReplyDeleteIt's an odd weather pattern here and the tree trunks are covered with mold like I have never seen before. I would blame it on climate change, but I have heard that is all just liberal fake news.
DeleteSorry to hear about your allergy. I had an allergy in Manoa where I grew up but the allergy disappeared when I moved away.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting, I've never heard of using Tiger Balm for a dry cough. Glad it helps you. I have similar allergy symptoms, and I'm gonna try this!
ReplyDeleteMy mom used to rub our chests with VIck's. I didn't have any of that but I did have Tiger Balm and I really thought it helped a great deal.
DeleteMY eyes have been itching or ages. I hoping it will get better soon.
ReplyDeleteAllergies are no fun. I use Quercetin which helps me a bunch and has no side effects. It is basically apple peals.
ReplyDeleteI worked with an Asian man who swore by Tiger Balm for colds.
Oh you made me giggle when you said it was no drowsy and you woke up 4 hrs later. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy Parents used Vicks on my chest and I would imagine Tiger Balm would have the same effect.
Hope you start feeling better soon!
Are you taking any new medications. Allergies not withstanding my dry hacking cough is due either to a statin I take or my blood pressure meds!!
ReplyDeleteNo new drugs. It just feels like I have sand in my throat.
DeleteI giggled a bit when I read the part about waking up four hours after taking non-drowsy Claritin. I have never heard of putting Tiger Balm on the chest for congestion and such. I hope your allergies soon go away.
ReplyDeleteI went in for my annual checkup and the doc changed out my asthma meds and recommended non-drowsy Claritin. I've been taking it for two days now and I'm not drowsy except at night, when I'm supposed to be.
ReplyDeleteMy dry cough is probably my blood pressure med. Or a bad habit.
Our kids are really suffering from allergies this year. I feel so badly for them.
