Baby Boom

There has been a bit of a baby boom.  My nephew and his wife had a baby girl in July.  Mike's oldest grandson and his wife had a baby boy.

This prompted me to get out knitting needles and yarn to make booties and baby hats.

I also started working on a crib quilt.  The fun part is done, now on to sandwiching and quilting.
I am not a very advanced quilter -- stitch in the ditch is may speed.

I know it is cliche to pick pink for a baby girl, but I love pink and I can't help myself.

  1. I only have one baby boom going on at the moment. :) Another granddaughter to add to the mix come Oct. Then it will be tied up. Two grandsons and two grand-Princesses. :) - I haven't picked up knitting needles in a while but I am addicted to my crochet hook and sewing machine!- Here's to happy, healthy grandbabies and lots of 'em! :D

  2. Pink for a girl, blue for a boy, always, why apologize.

  3. You are the kind of grandmother/aunt it is good to have. Nothing like hand made.

  4. I like pink, too, but yellow is a good unisex color. Lol.

  5. Well, aren't you handy! I don't know how to knit, and my quilting is at the stitch in a ditch level too. Your creations look great!

  6. These are all beautiful. I knit for relaxation and don't make a thing. It's something to do with my hands in the winter. I am not good though so I just knit. My husband says it takes me from a stress level 12 to 1 and he likes that. That made me laugh. He'd like it even more if I could learn to make something.

  7. I wish I had your talent and skill. Heck I just wish I had a grandchild. That might even motivate me to learn a new skill.

  10. We had baby boom too starting back in February a boy,March another boy and June a 9lb girl! All are well. I am no longer trying to make stuff as it hurts my eyes too much and then my ego too. I just try to be supportive in other ways. I send books.
I love the shape of those booties.

It's TIme

It's been a while since I have posted anything and even my reading your posts is falling by the wayside. I am in Florida now. I have a yard where little attention was spent on landscaping for the past years so I am slowly and (somewhat) methodically addressing that. I also volunteer to work at the pollinator garden and the edible garden I helped install at the UU grounds and I took over the volunteer job of cleaning out the overgrown community garden by my neighborhood mailboxes. The neighbor who was doing that got sick and could no longer attend to it. It's a bigger job than I'd thought at first -- not only overgrown with weeds, but the plants that are wanted there are in life and death competition for each others' spaces. And two walks a day, morning and evening, so Levi can keep up with addiction to canine social media and a daily rousing came of stick or ball midday take up another chunk of my time. I have a weekly meditation group that I co-facilitate, and my own ...

Life Goes On

There is nothing like a visit from the grand children to remind one that life goes on.  I spent Friday night at my daughter's and then brought the kids back home with me.  I did not get to see so much of them this past summer and it was a birthday gift to my daughter (who just turned 40!) to have a couple of days to herself. She probably spent them in her son's room playing Lego StarWars.  Dane tried to teach me how to play this video game--a hopeless task if ever there was one.  "Concentrate, Grandma!  You have to concentrate!"  I do have a hard time with sustained concentration lately, but in this case I had no clue what it was that needed concentration.  He finally took the controls away from me (thank-you!). It's amazing how long he can amuse himself at my house being out side on a scooter or helping me in the yard, especially if it involves a hose.  Inside, they both sit and draw or craft for hours.  Just before bed, Dane did say, "N...

Monkey See, Monkey Do

Okay, Linda Reeder .  Okay, Arkansas Patti .  Yours is NOT a club I wanted to join.  But I did anyway. Bike meets car; face meets pavement.  Olga meets EMTs, gets ride to ER, meets nurses, doctors and X-ray technicians, and friendly police officer who issues a citation for negligent bike riding.  Not pretty.  So very not pretty. Are you ready for this? Yes. I was wearing my helmet. Plenty of bruises and swellings, but no broken bones, no concussion.   I will take it easy for the next few days, but first order of business is to go out and purchase purple eye shadow.
