We went to the Ringling Museum of Art on Monday.
The next day we were in the pool and a woman asked about what we were doing and I mentioned the trip to the art museum. She looked at my grandson and commented "Well, THAT must have been boring!"
In fact, not at all. Both of the kids were very much attentive and appreciative, very much enjoying the experience and making serious observations. I would not have taken them if I thought it would be otherwise.
My grandson continues to paint when he is not in the pool or the Gulf. The trip actually had the influence of turning his effort toward human figure.

This is amazing to me because a year ago he could not hold a pencil in his hand.
I think your grandson is talented indeed. Forgive my spotty and negligent blogging this summer. I've been away far too long. I hope to get back into the groove soon.
ReplyDeleteThe second painting reminds me a lot of Wassily Kandinsky in the coloration and form. The lad has promise.

You have truly inspired him, haven't you?!
ReplyDeleteWe were in TOronto and hubby went to their art museum, while I was at meetings...
I have been to that museum if I remember correctly and it is wonderful. Not only is the art work wonderful but the grounds and statues are amazing. It is even more interesting with the Ringling connection. Glad to see our carnival spending went to a good use.
ReplyDeleteChildren going to the museum with that woman might be bored if they absorbed her attitude. Nice that you can share these experiences with your grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I'm so glad you're encouraging your child to appreciate art. His paintings are absolutely wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful to see the way youngsters develop their way of expressing what they understand art to be. You are inspirational tomthem. Bravo to you all!
