I hired a company to dig up my underground fuel tank and they were supposed to come on October 8. Unfortunately, there was a train wreck in central Vermont and they were called in to help with that clean up. I had to wait.
Well, they were able to come last Wednesday. It wasn't a beautiful day. They got rained on. (But at least it wasn't snow, which we had on Sunday!)

The tank was rusty looking, but there were no leaks and no soil contamination, for which I am especially grateful.
phew! What a relief, both that it's done, and that there was no contamination!
ReplyDeleteSo, if there were no leaks, why did it have to be dug up? How long does a tank last these days?
ReplyDeleteBanks will not approve mortgages for properties with underground tanks. Since I did not sell to cash buyers, I had to have it removed and the soil tested.
DeleteThat's a biggie to get checked off the list. And a big sigh of relief! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteGlad everything went well with the removal. I'm sure you're glad to get things taken care of and will be happy when this move is done.
ReplyDeleteTake care!
What was the underground fuel tank for anyway?
ReplyDeleteIt was for the fuel oil for our furnace. It was nice to not see a fuel truck pulling into the driveway every month during the cold winters.
DeleteGood thing to have done and checked off. It was great that it had not leaked. Nice touch with putting plywood on the grass.
ReplyDeleteIt was quite the dance those workers did with the ply wood! Not a cheap job, this one.
DeleteJob well done. I am sure you are relieved that's over and done with.
ReplyDeleteDid not know that about fuel tanks but it makes sense for the buyer. So happy that it turned out so well for you and that you didn't have any extra expense. Goodness selling a house is complicated.
ReplyDeleteSure glad the tank didn't have any leeks and that things are going smoothly. Except for that snow -- had to believe you had snow and it was mid 80s here!
