Have I mentioned that I will be moving? The closing on my house will be October 30 in the morning and then the closing on the condo I am buying will be that afternoon. I am not exactly sure how the moving piece is gonna work out but I know that I have to say good-bye to loads of stuff.
I should probably write an article about downsizing when I am through with this cause I am pretty sure I am going to be learning it the hard way.
Moving - a mixture of trauma and excitement.
ReplyDeleteOlga, I don't envy you. We've been in this house for 30 years and even the thought of moving is scary...
ReplyDeleteOh boy! You have quite the job ahead! You will feel good when it is all done.
ReplyDeleteI don't envy you either but it should make life easier in a condo. We've given thought to purchasing one ourselves. It will also make it easier going to Florida I would think. No yard work to square away. Good luck with down sizing.....
ReplyDeleteYou're probably making the right move. And yeah, many of us will be interested in your experience since we'll be following in your footsteps.
ReplyDeleteOh boy, to say goodbye to your craft room. That's a biggy!!! Good luck with the move. You are a very strong lady.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the previous person. you are a strong lady. we have moved several times. the longer you are at a house the harder it is. Moving is my least favorite activity. I hope you have help! Now on the other hand moving into a new place is an adventure! Will you be in the same neighborhood?
ReplyDeleteI hope you are finding that downsizing is exhilarating and FREEING. I'm so excited for you!
ReplyDeleteI highly suggest Marie Kondo's book on the subject, if you haven't already read it. (sorry that I don't remember if you have or not.) It will bring a real joy to the whole process, and it's a quick read. I promise on both counts. :)
Yes, I have read the Kondo book and it is being helpful in the saying goodbye process

DeleteI can't imagine having to downsize. We live simply in our Arizona park model because we don't collect things there. It is nice. Good luck with your busy October 30!
ReplyDeleteOlga, you are moving right along with this process. I think you'll like downsizing. And, no yard work or maintenance with the condo.
ReplyDeleteSure don't envy you. Moving is a nightmare but is a great way to get rid of things you once thought important but just aren't anymore. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteAhhh the joys of moving. l am not sure what is more fun, downsizing, the physical move, or the dealing with all the bureaucrats in the various utilities to shut off service and close accounts in the old location and open new accounts. Good luck with all the upcoming joys.
ReplyDeleteGee, thanks, Sextant, for that reminder of things to come. At least we know from their ads that switching all my Comcast will be a breeze
DeleteHaha! Good luck with that! If only the world worked like it does in the ads!
DeleteBig transitions are always challenging. Do share a what I have learned post.
ReplyDeleteSo one door closes and another one opens.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have help with the moving.
Good luck and best wishes, Olga.
Good luck packing and moving. I can't wait to see pictures and hear all about the new place. Hope both escrows go smoothly!
ReplyDeleteI'm so proud of you. Too many don't do this, and end up angry and frustrated not being able to maintain their old way of life. Good for you. Give yourself a pat-on-the-back!
ReplyDeleteWow. Big news. That will make your life easier. At least I hope so. Good luck with everything.
ReplyDeleteMoving is hard. I'm happy you are going into another place, but it is so hard. Love the photo of you. By the way, I moved three years ago and I'm still wondering if I got rid of things I can't find or if I just don't know where I put them.
