It has been hot and humid here for the past couple days. Perfect weather for stripping.
Stripping wall paper, I meant.
Because a steamy day just makes me want to get out a steamer and really sweat it out.
I don't always plan well.
I had a real estate agent look at the house. He said 90's wallpaper is so unappealing to buyers. On the other hand, he really liked the coziness of the 70's den downstairs.

Oh my goodness, what a crummy thing to have to do, but at least there is a pot 'o gold at the end of that rainbow. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteSorry but this weather is only good for cuddling up to the air conditioner with a good book. Going to 93 today with high humidity.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the stripping. Perhaps if you put some David Rose on the stereo the job will go faster.
I hated stripping wallpaper -- even in cool weather. It's why I always got strippable paper -- it just peels right off. It's true about wallpaper -- buyers just want paint.
ReplyDeleteAh, how about reading a good book instead of stripping. Better you than me. The stripping I am doing is wearing the least amount of clothes as is decent in this heat.
ReplyDeleteThat is a job I hate. It took my children and I and whomever else stopped by the house an entire summer to strip one wall of wallpaper one summer. It was a sweltering summer. The task was not fun, but we got it done. Have a stripping party. Folks will be intrigued with the invitation and will come. Then you tell them what the stripping will be.
ReplyDeleteYou were stripping wall paper in hot AND humid weather? Arrrghhh.... That's awful! You really have stamina. I would have melted before I was 10% done. We did have to strip down several of our walls too in order to update it in Chicago. When we moved to Hawaii we went with generic white walls or almost white walls so we'd never ever have to strip again.
ReplyDeleteIt is a yin and yang thing. I have stripped wallpaper and it is not a fun thing. The newer wallpaper that is strippable is fun, though. I do like a bit of wallpaper here and there but not sure I will strip it when it is time to sell.
ReplyDeleteI have never put any wall paper up so I never have to take any off. But if I did, It would have to be when it's cool, or even cold.
ReplyDeleteWe're now back in 90+ temps again for five days. We Pacific Northwesterners are hating it.
Well, think of the weight I'd lose if I was steaming off old wallpaper...who needs Carb counts?
ReplyDeleteAs my friend would say -- it was a 2 bra day! Don't envy you doing it even if the AC were running and the temps were wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHa! Three shower, two bra and no bra kind of day sor sure.
DeleteYuck, stripping wallpaper in the heat and humidity. :( Does it make it any easier? I suspect not, just make you feel more uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteI suspect the 70's den is considered retro, but the 90's wallpaper is too new. Good luck!
Well, I don't know what he meant.
ReplyDeleteLoved your opening line- stripping! Do you have any before and after shots? Of the projects of course!
ReplyDeleteIt's good work, isn't it?
