Easter Bonnet


Some one at the Unitarian-Universalist Church that I attend in Florida had the idea that everyone should wear an Easter hat on Sunday.

Well some (I won't mention names) plunked a baseball cap or a beach hat on their heads and called it done.
So not in the proper spirit of things.

Get those hot glue guns heating up!

There were lots of straw hats festooned with flowers.
I wanted to be different so I made my hat with feathers and a little blue bird.




And there was a flower communion.  I contributed a bunch, but I kept one stem for myself because I know the rabbit wanted me to have a lily.

I talked to my sister in Vermont.  It was snowing on their Easter brunch.

      People brought a flower or a bunch and put them in baskets. Later in the service, the children came in and carried the baskets around so everyone could take a flower as music played in the background. It was quite sweet.

    Good idea. We could stand to dress up a little, rather than dress down, as we have become used to. Maybe starting with Easter bonnets will remind us that we used to dress a little better.

    How clever you are! It looks like those little whimsies called Fascinators that are all the rage at weddings. I used to love wearing hats; now I don't even own one!

    Very creative hat! It must have been a very colorful morning with the hats and flowers.

    I'm sure your sister was disappointed with the snow on Easter. We had none on Sunday but got it last night and today. It's now melting away quickly but I hope there is no more in the forecast!

    I do think your bonnet was quite cool and I bet it was a coversation piece.
    The going to church idea has left us some time ago but with do stop to give thanks in our own way.

 On September 29, I had the closing on my condo. Everything that was not going to the buyers was out and packed in the ABF moving truck which had by the been taken over to the storage units. Don thought it would take him until Wednesday to finish packing the truck with the help of his son. It took him until late Thursday with Chris' help and mine. Kevin was supposed to help load as well but he was in a mountain bike accident and wrecked his shoulder the week before. That added driving him to doctor appointments to my to do list and dong some shopping for him plus jobs around the house that might need two functioning upper limbs.  We stayed with Kevin on Friday night after the closing and then had a suite in an extended stay place for the coming week. This was the worst possible time to have to get a room because the prices balloon during leaf peeping season if you can even find a room at all. It's TIme

 It's been a while since I have posted anything and even my reading your posts is falling by the wayside. I am in Florida now. I have a yard where little attention was spent on landscaping for the past years so I am slowly and (somewhat) methodically addressing that. I also volunteer to work at the pollinator garden and the edible garden I helped install at the UU grounds and I took over the volunteer job of cleaning out the overgrown community garden by my neighborhood mailboxes. The neighbor who was doing that got sick and could no longer attend to it. It's a bigger job than I'd thought at first -- not only overgrown with weeds, but the plants that are wanted there are in life and death competition for each others' spaces. And two walks a day, morning and evening, so Levi can keep up with addiction to canine social media and a daily rousing came of stick or ball midday take up another chunk of my time. Wedding

 Don and I drove to South Carolina to attend the wedding of my step-grandson, Will. Will Will and Katie The wedding took place on Dataw Island, a beautiful outdoor ceremony followed by a reception in the country club. We stayed in a tiny cottage in the historic center of Beaufort, rented from Vrbo. Since the wedding was at 5 p.m., we had time to explore the area a bit. I really like the low country scenery and historical charm. Sitting quietly in the curtained gazebo I was visited by multiple cardinals. They came to visit the feeder, not me, but I can always pretend! How I will always remember Will!
