You might think that being retired makes everyday seem like a weekend day.
It's not really true. Weekends are still special. And this weekend was Harvest Festival weekend in my little part of the world.
I went to buy a pie. I bought one from the Boy Scouts' booth, this little pie stand in in operation throughout the year.
I also bought some bottles of maple syrup. My Christmas shopping is officially underway. So at home I started putting together some things for the kids' Advent Calendars.
And I worked on making my Christmas cards.
It was too beautiful a day to be inside for long though. Fall is moving in.

Olga, I agree. Weekends are still special... even in retirement! And if you bought maple syrup, you can try making my home-made granola!
ReplyDeleteNothing beats Vermont maple syrup ... except maybe Vermont's autumn maple leaves!
ReplyDeleteAs you know, I'm looking forward to retirement, and although I've thought about what my daily life might look like I hadn't thought about the weekends. It is great to know weekends will still be different.
ReplyDeleteThe photos of the trees are gorgeous! I love the colors of fall, but am not so thrilled about the winter that follows. Oh well, we can't have one without the other.
Enjoy you weekend!
You're right -- weekends are still special. (It reminds me of Downton Abbey -- "What IS a weekend?") What a cute stand for selling pies! You're way ahead of us in fall colors. We still look like summer!
ReplyDeleteAww mine week ends are now a blend with all the other days which I kind of like. Every day is a week end day and Mondays are just fine thank you. Though, living near a tourist town, there are some neat week end activities that are fun.
ReplyDeleteVt. may have the best fall colors in the US. .
There is nothing like a Vermont fall! What kind of pie? Yum, yum...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful leaves and crafts too!
ReplyDeleteHooray for fall. We are getting a taste of it here and I am loving it.
ReplyDeleteThe trees are turning nicely here too. Pieces of them at a time, so maybe it'll last a long time.
ReplyDeleteThere's a young man at work who supplies me with his own homemade maple syrup, and it is wonderful!
Weekends are not all that terribly special for me anymore, but Sunday nights still suck. I sometimes have to remind myself that I don't have to go back to work tomorrow. Same same for New Years Eve and the back to school reminders. Buzzing cicadas. Bletch! Old habits die hard?
ReplyDeleteYour colors are a good bit ahead of ours. But things are changing here too.
Your fall colors are just amazing! I do miss seeing the leaves change colors. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteGreat! I like your pretty pictures! You are so creative. Keep it up.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous fall photos! I always loved fall in the Midwest.
ReplyDeleteI like the weekends too. They are still special. I love your origami money. That's very creative.
Christmas? Gracious! It's around the corner, isn't it?
Working on Christmas already? Dear you make me think I am one lost soul.
