Annual Quilt Show in Venice

This was the weekend for the annual quilt show sponsored by the Quilters Guild of Venice.   I went on Sunday afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits and browsing the vendors.

This was the over all winning quilt, "Florida Wedding", best of show:

It looks busy in the photograph, but it was stunning in person.  It was marked as in the beginners category, but the quilter started it in 2001.  We figured she was an expert by the time she finished.

    As someone who appreciates Roseville pottery, I am with you in loving that Roseville quilt full of pottery and flowers, and wonderful color! Wow!

    Synchronized Turtles has an M.C. Escher thing going for it. I like them all but must confess that Neil's Garden is my favorite.

    Dallas had it's quilt show this weekend also. We usually go, but things kept us from it this year. The quilts are beautiful. I remember my very first quilt show... how amazed I was at the artistry and originality. I (personally) like the simple ones and the log cabin pattern is still my favorite.

    Neil's Garden caught my eye but Grumpy Cat gave me a smile. The turtles was really clever. A lot of work in all of those.

    Those quilts are amazing! Thank you for sharing them. I love quilts but quilting is just not my thing. Kind of wish it was but not sure when I would find time. I do love the turtle quilt!

    I love the Florida wedding quilt especially the additional vines and flowers. My mom was a quilter, and she made a wedding quilt for each of my siblings (I didn't marry so didn't get one). But I'd still love a quil like that.

 On September 29, I had the closing on my condo. Everything that was not going to the buyers was out and packed in the ABF moving truck which had by the been taken over to the storage units. Don thought it would take him until Wednesday to finish packing the truck with the help of his son. It took him until late Thursday with Chris' help and mine. Kevin was supposed to help load as well but he was in a mountain bike accident and wrecked his shoulder the week before. That added driving him to doctor appointments to my to do list and dong some shopping for him plus jobs around the house that might need two functioning upper limbs.  We stayed with Kevin on Friday night after the closing and then had a suite in an extended stay place for the coming week. This was the worst possible time to have to get a room because the prices balloon during leaf peeping season if you can even find a room at all. But it was close to the storage units where we were working and it was dog friendly. We ju

It's TIme

 It's been a while since I have posted anything and even my reading your posts is falling by the wayside. I am in Florida now. I have a yard where little attention was spent on landscaping for the past years so I am slowly and (somewhat) methodically addressing that. I also volunteer to work at the pollinator garden and the edible garden I helped install at the UU grounds and I took over the volunteer job of cleaning out the overgrown community garden by my neighborhood mailboxes. The neighbor who was doing that got sick and could no longer attend to it. It's a bigger job than I'd thought at first -- not only overgrown with weeds, but the plants that are wanted there are in life and death competition for each others' spaces. And two walks a day, morning and evening, so Levi can keep up with addiction to canine social media and a daily rousing came of stick or ball midday take up another chunk of my time. I have a weekly meditation group that I co-facilitate, and my own

Wedding

 Don and I drove to South Carolina to attend the wedding of my step-grandson, Will. Will Will and Katie The wedding took place on Dataw Island, a beautiful outdoor ceremony followed by a reception in the country club. We stayed in a tiny cottage in the historic center of Beaufort, rented from Vrbo. Since the wedding was at 5 p.m., we had time to explore the area a bit. I really like the low country scenery and historical charm. Sitting quietly in the curtained gazebo I was visited by multiple cardinals. They came to visit the feeder, not me, but I can always pretend! How I will always remember Will!
