I am hoping that everyone had a pleasant Thanksgiving.
I made the trip to Connecticut on Thursday morning. The first 60 miles or so were slushy and I was glad I had those studded snow tires. Then the rest of the way was clear and dry and I had to listen to the thunk-thunking of the studs.
The table may have been diminished in terms of place settings and attempts at toasts were teary, but the room was crowded with the spirits of those we love.

I am glad you were able to go and did not have trouble getting there. Holidays are very hard when you have lost a loved one. Your last paragraph is beautifully written. I hope you have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you phrased this last paragraph. I'm glad you made there safely.
ReplyDeleteOh, good. I was hoping you would make it safely to your family.
ReplyDeleteIt will be a difficult years of firsts.
Glad your trip was safe, that storm certainly had the potential to be very bad. I love your observation on the spirits, they were there and heard your toasts.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you enjoyed the holiday. Peace!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! Tears are good. Grieving is a long process, not to be rushed.
ReplyDeleteCheers from Cottage Country Ontario , ON, Canada!
Glad to hear you made it home safely!
ReplyDeleteI understand the feelings of loss,..it does get easier though we never forget. This year will mark the 10th anniversary of my mom's death. Her birthday was Christmas Day and it is always a bittersweet time.
Take care!
Yikes! You drove 60 miles in snow? You are so brave, Olga. However, I'm so glad you spent this special time with people you love and who love you. It's wonderful to be able to share the memories.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you made it safely and were with people you love.
ReplyDeleteOlga, I've been thinking of you and finally had time to visit, reading back through your posts. I'm glad you were with family for the holiday. I liked your post about creative cooking now that you're making meals for one. I think I'd make stone soup a weekly phenomena! We are under a winter storm watch with feet of snow predicted. This weekend, we need to be in Denver to babysit Grandchildren. I am also taking the 10 year old and 7 year old to the Nutcracker. It's a busy time of the year. I want you to know I think of you often - especially when I'm walking the trails. Be well and enjoy the season.
ReplyDeleteGlad you carried on and felt the love around you.
