My garden has been neglected these past couple of months, but it carried on, doing what gardens do and providing me with moments of gratitude for its waiting gifts today.

Your flowers are beautiful. Perhaps you had to neglect your garden due to the horrid circumstances, but it seems that your garden did not neglect you. I especially like the first arrangement with the orange blossoms. Very lovely!
ReplyDeleteI like those orange flowers, but I don't even know what they are. I got a little seed ball of wildflower seeds at the recycle center where I take my composting. It was a "thank-you" to composters. I dropped it in a corner of the garden and all kinds of lovely flowers popped up over the summer.
DeleteI didn't know either, so I chickened out with orange blossoms. They look like a variety of black eyed susan. I think a lot of what is being passed off as "wildflowers" are anything but. The state highway departments spray "wildflowers" along the interstates. They are beautiful but I don't think they are wild.
DeleteYour flowers are just beautiful. I bet they are very glad to have you back. Flowers sure can brighten any day. It is still very warm here and I love standing at the kitchen sink and looking out at the plumerias. They have gone insane this year -- and I've loved it.

ReplyDeleteThe voles were very active this summer around here--lots of tunnels and sinking spots as I walk around. I just read that castor oil will repel them, but have not tried it yet.

ReplyDeleteI did the flowers for the tables at my daughter's wedding and her in-laws did ask her if I was a professional florist. Actually, I just had my first lesson this past summer.

ReplyDeleteYour garden must make you smile, Olga. I love fresh flowers in the house. If I've grown them myself, even better! I have those little cobalt bottles, too, and like to use them for nosegays.

DeleteVery nice ... like some others, I have also found that a garden sometimes does better without the human intervention, esp. when the human intervention comes from me. However . . . if you find anything that works to keep away the voles, please let me know!
ReplyDeleteThe voles are new. We have battled moles in previous years. At one point I thought Mike might take a machine gun to the lawn, he was so frustrated with trying to get rid of them. I treated for grubs and that cut down on the mole population--getting rid of the free lunch.
