Vermont summer has not been here all that long, but I do not think this particular one is going down on anyone's list of all time favorites. It has been a marathon of storms and heavy rains. We live near the town garage, so I can tell you that the road crew has been flat out busy dealing with road wash outs.
I also noticed that our chimney is leaking. There is always something that needs tending to in a house. I wish I could do some things to update though, rather than always having something pressing has to get done right away. Last month it was the propane tank for our gas stove in need of replacement, now the chimney. It is really not a good idea to neglect things like leaky propane tanks so I guess I can put off a new kitchen window for a while.
There was a break in the rain yesterday morning so we got out to mow the lawn (Mike) and weed the gardens (me). There was not a break in the humidity and resulting high heat index. It was unpleasant, but it needed to get done.
Fortunate for us that we have not planned any camping trips this summer.
Tomorrow will be our twentieth anniversary. That has been a good run. I won't say that we have not hit a bump or two in the road, but our marriage has not suffered the wild kind of swings that would make me compare it to the weather. And our bodies are much older than our house, so I guess it is only natural that there would be some needed patching up and maintenance work there. I am definitely willing to go for another twenty years.

Thank goodness I don't have a gas stove nor a chimney. Lol. Congrats on your wedding anniversary. Go celebrate somewhere nice.
ReplyDeleteWow 20 years! Congratulations, and why just 20 more? I am planning on at least another 36, that will make me 100 and married for 72 years.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteHere the rain has stopped for now and the humidity is falling, but now we're heating up, 87 today, maybe 90 on Monday. That's too hot for most of us Seattlites.
Happy Anniversary! Hope you two get a chance to do something fun, rather than spending the day 'fixing'. Raining here too!!!! I want some sun!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! We've had a ton of rain, too. Climate change is quite something.
ReplyDeleteCheers from Cottage Country!
Any day without rain is a good day, to my way of thinking. It's amazing how fast things grow - especially weeds - with a combination of warm and rain.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! I hope a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteNo rain here and none in the forecast for nearly a week. I'll try to send it east and south.
Happy Anniversary and you are right -- after 20 years of use everything needs a little maintenance! They are calling for 96 degrees here the next 3 days so I'm doing everything that requires an effort beyond typing to early morning hours.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary. Twenty years is nothing to sneeze at. Congrats bug time.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Muffy, forget fixing at least for a while and do some fun stuff.
I missed this Olga. Happy Anniversary to you & Mike. Better the house than the marriage that needs mending!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary to you both! It's so wonderful that you both have such a fulfilling, beautiful, satisfying marriage.
