Sunday’s Creative Endeavor

There just was nothing going on today.  I started poking though my fabric scraps and this is what I came up with.

fish quilt 001

It’s a fish, if you can’t see it.  Here it is draped over a pillow, but I think that I will put it on a stretcher and use it for a wall hanging.

I could have done some garden weeding, but it was kind of hot today and it is supposed to be in the 90’s tomorrow.  It has been a hot summer by Vermont standards.  Still, I haven’t had my bathing suit on since last winter.  Life has gotten a bit topsy-turvey.

I also finished Let’s Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson.  If you enjoy laughing at serious panic attacks, social anxiety, and marital arguments, this is a really funny book.  Be warned that I  really do have quite a sick sense of humor.

  1. I have to confess, I started reading "The Dovekeepers" but found it too depressing and difficult. Maybe I should go back to it.

    Love the fish!

Thanks for sharing this info with us.
I think you like your fish in a wall hanging. Go for it.
Would love to visit Vermont. I was hoping if we go to Portland in Sept that I might could see a little of Vermont. Will have to check out a US map and see what are the chances.
It is way to hot to do much. I finally quit my out side chores at 1:30 today and will go back out around 6 this evening. Too hot mid afternoon
    Take care dear friend
    Love

  5. Life has indeed gone topsy-turvy. And hot. I'm not liking this summer at all.

But I *do* like your fish. Cute. Smart to stay indoors!

I actually met Jenny Lawson at Blogher last year. The gal I went with (one of my former associates at the paper) is a HUGE Bloggess fan so we spent time TWICE hanging out in her little den in at the conference. Of course, my friend chit-chatted with Jenny and I just felt out of place. I did get a sticker from her and took pics of my friend with her. :o) She is indeed a funny lady, though.

It's TIme

It's been a while since I have posted anything and even my reading your posts is falling by the wayside. I am in Florida now. I have a yard where little attention was spent on landscaping for the past years so I am slowly and (somewhat) methodically addressing that. I also volunteer to work at the pollinator garden and the edible garden I helped install at the UU grounds and I took over the volunteer job of cleaning out the overgrown community garden by my neighborhood mailboxes. The neighbor who was doing that got sick and could no longer attend to it. It's a bigger job than I'd thought at first -- not only overgrown with weeds, but the plants that are wanted there are in life and death competition for each others' spaces. And two walks a day, morning and evening, so Levi can keep up with addiction to canine social media and a daily rousing came of stick or ball midday take up another chunk of my time. I have a weekly meditation group that I co-facilitate, and my own ...

Life Goes On

There is nothing like a visit from the grand children to remind one that life goes on.  I spent Friday night at my daughter's and then brought the kids back home with me.  I did not get to see so much of them this past summer and it was a birthday gift to my daughter (who just turned 40!) to have a couple of days to herself. She probably spent them in her son's room playing Lego StarWars.  Dane tried to teach me how to play this video game--a hopeless task if ever there was one.  "Concentrate, Grandma!  You have to concentrate!"  I do have a hard time with sustained concentration lately, but in this case I had no clue what it was that needed concentration.  He finally took the controls away from me (thank-you!). It's amazing how long he can amuse himself at my house being out side on a scooter or helping me in the yard, especially if it involves a hose.  Inside, they both sit and draw or craft for hours.  Just before bed, Dane did say, "N...

Monkey See, Monkey Do

Okay, Linda Reeder .  Okay, Arkansas Patti .  Yours is NOT a club I wanted to join.  But I did anyway. Bike meets car; face meets pavement.  Olga meets EMTs, gets ride to ER, meets nurses, doctors and X-ray technicians, and friendly police officer who issues a citation for negligent bike riding.  Not pretty.  So very not pretty. Are you ready for this? Yes. I was wearing my helmet. Plenty of bruises and swellings, but no broken bones, no concussion.   I will take it easy for the next few days, but first order of business is to go out and purchase purple eye shadow.
