Back North

Image result for butter dishes with lid

I have returned to Vermont and have spent a couple days trying to remember where I put things.  I spent ten minutes looking for my butter dish before I spied it right there on the kitchen counter.  I had been looking for the butter dish that I have in Florida and didn't recognize the Vermont butter dish.

I know.  I know. Of all the problems one can have in life, that is right down there with the lowest level of most minor.

  1. I so enjoy your blog, you are positive and kind, no one wants to read misery in the lovely spring, hot summer, lovely autumn and cold and snowy winter no one..I want to go to Vermont some day, we live in Washington state it is nice but usually only two weathers here scorching hot and cold and raining, most people complain I say nothing can be done about the weather but you can temper your thoughts each and everyday..I love my butter dish only have had it for about 50 years of my soon 70 the birthday, my granny gave it to me as a youngster and I treasure it I would be upset if I did not use each and everyday, I kept in a box for when I could join her when I was 18 and loved and used it everyday..Have a most wonderful week, ,peace, love and joy sent to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. LOL! Yes, that's not a bad problem to have.
Your story reminds me of my parents move from the farm to the small town nearby. My cousins, sister, and I helped with the unpacking at the new house. We asked mom where she wanted things and she gave us a general idea, but complained that it took her nearly 6 months to find everything. (The kitchen wasn't that big!)
Glad you made it back north safe and sound. Enjoy your time there!

  3. It's important if you need a butter dish!

  4. That's why I could never have a winter home in Florida -- I'd never be able to remember what is where. (Plus, I can't afford it, but that's another issue.)

  5. Welcome back north. I live in a world of missing things. As my wife says, if I look for something and it doesn't drop into my hand, like manna from heaven, it is irrevocably lost forever. The world is a mysterious place where things seem to disappear and reappear at will. A place for everything and nothing in its place is my motto. Quick, get it out of your hand before it burns you!

Losing things and turning green lights red seem to be my superpower.

  6. I can honestly say that a butter dish is not something I have had trouble finding. I don't have one. But I sure do it with many otger things

  7. Why don't you just keep the empty butter dish in the fridge? That's what I do. Lol.

  8. May all your problems be of a similar size. Wouldn't that be wonderful? Another plus is that you got in an unscheduled 10 minutes of exercise.

  11. I feel your pain. I am always losing something that is either on my head (glasses) or in my hand (phone).

Updates

On September 29, I had the closing on my condo. Everything that was not going to the buyers was out and packed in the ABF moving truck which had by the been taken over to the storage units. Don thought it would take him until Wednesday to finish packing the truck with the help of his son. It took him until late Thursday with Chris' help and mine. Kevin was supposed to help load as well but he was in a mountain bike accident and wrecked his shoulder the week before. That added driving him to doctor appointments to my to do list and dong some shopping for him plus jobs around the house that might need two functioning upper limbs.  We stayed with Kevin on Friday night after the closing and then had a suite in an extended stay place for the coming week. This was the worst possible time to have to get a room because the prices balloon during leaf peeping season if you can even find a room at all. But it was close to the storage units where we were working and it was dog friendly. We ju

Wedding

Don and I drove to South Carolina to attend the wedding of my step-grandson, Will. Will Will and Katie The wedding took place on Dataw Island, a beautiful outdoor ceremony followed by a reception in the country club. We stayed in a tiny cottage in the historic center of Beaufort, rented from Vrbo. Since the wedding was at 5 p.m., we had time to explore the area a bit. I really like the low country scenery and historical charm. Sitting quietly in the curtained gazebo I was visited by multiple cardinals. They came to visit the feeder, not me, but I can always pretend! How I will always remember Will!

Rest In Peace

In a summer that has been so wet, Sunday was a reprieve. The humidity dropped and the sun came out. It was a day that could have been special ordered by the family of a friend's husband. It was the day they had arranged his celebration of life ceremony set on the shore of Lake Champlain. I was not looking forward to the gathering, even couched as a celebration. This is a family fraught with relationship tensions. It turned out to be a beautiful day and a beautiful ceremony. A Catholic priest gave a brief but meaningful homily and two Air Force members played "Taps" and presented the American flag to my friend. I am not a Christian, but I do know about Christ Consciousness. That priest's word's filled me with such a sense of peace and love. I hope it did the same for the family members and neighbors who attended.
