Restless Nights

Some mornings I get up,  run a hand over the sheet to smooth it it out and my bed is made and I am on my way.

Other mornings, not so much.
It looks as though I was trying to create a tornado out of the bed covers. I don't think it shows how really twisted up it was.  I wish I could remember what I must have been dreaming...or maybe it's just as well I don't.

  1. I have been having lots of dreams lately that I remember. Most of them are about work, even though I retired six years ago!

  2. I use to have those smooth sheet nights also. Sure made bed making easy and I only used about 24 inches of bed. Not any more which I will post about later. I have found a cure for back pain in a well traveled bed.

  3. I hAve been having lots of dreams most of which I barely remember. I do sleep without tossing a turning and make a bed easily, though.

  4. Some nights are definitely better than others. I've been having more vivid dreams lately though I'm not certain if those nights are more restless. Now I'm curious, must try to remember to make note in the morning...not my best time of the day.

  5. When I am restless my covers are not affected. I wonder why? I do roll from dide to side. Only once did I notice my pillow had shifted but covers stayed in place. As for dreams , some are crazy wild and occur in strange settings yet may have familiar people there.

  6. Restless nights are not fun for me. They involve being awake, not dreaming.

  7. I never toss and turn enough to disrupt the bedding. I will curl up on my left side and sometime during the night turn to my right side without messing up the covers. What is wrong with me?!

  8. What gets me is how the blankets and sheets seem to get weaved into a rope, that defies untwisting. Surely we could use all this energy to generate electricity with piezoelectric cells placed in bed clothes and mattresses.

Supposedly we need REM sleep. I hate it. I much prefer the 2 to 3 hours of cease to exist sleep that I get in the beginning of the night. That hour and half of tossing and turning REM coupled with weird dreams just seems to undo the benefits of the dead to the world sleep I get.

As some comedian once said, the wages of sin is death, but after they deduct for taxes, it just leave a tired feeling.

  9. Hahaha. I have those nights too. More often after a good nap. I wake up and find the sheets are almost straight, my hair is not sticking up in every direction and the dog has not moved to his bed in the living room because I tossed and turned too much. I wonder if this means we got a better sleep. I'll have to remember to gauge it next time it happens.

Updates

On September 29, I had the closing on my condo. Everything that was not going to the buyers was out and packed in the ABF moving truck which had by the been taken over to the storage units. Don thought it would take him until Wednesday to finish packing the truck with the help of his son. It took him until late Thursday with Chris' help and mine. Kevin was supposed to help load as well but he was in a mountain bike accident and wrecked his shoulder the week before. That added driving him to doctor appointments to my to do list and dong some shopping for him plus jobs around the house that might need two functioning upper limbs.  We stayed with Kevin on Friday night after the closing and then had a suite in an extended stay place for the coming week. This was the worst possible time to have to get a room because the prices balloon during leaf peeping season if you can even find a room at all. But it was close to the storage units where we were working and it was dog friendly. We ju

Wedding

Don and I drove to South Carolina to attend the wedding of my step-grandson, Will. Will Will and Katie The wedding took place on Dataw Island, a beautiful outdoor ceremony followed by a reception in the country club. We stayed in a tiny cottage in the historic center of Beaufort, rented from Vrbo. Since the wedding was at 5 p.m., we had time to explore the area a bit. I really like the low country scenery and historical charm. Sitting quietly in the curtained gazebo I was visited by multiple cardinals. They came to visit the feeder, not me, but I can always pretend! How I will always remember Will!

Rest In Peace

In a summer that has been so wet, Sunday was a reprieve. The humidity dropped and the sun came out. It was a day that could have been special ordered by the family of a friend's husband. It was the day they had arranged his celebration of life ceremony set on the shore of Lake Champlain. I was not looking forward to the gathering, even couched as a celebration. This is a family fraught with relationship tensions. It turned out to be a beautiful day and a beautiful ceremony. A Catholic priest gave a brief but meaningful homily and two Air Force members played "Taps" and presented the American flag to my friend. I am not a Christian, but I do know about Christ Consciousness. That priest's word's filled me with such a sense of peace and love. I hope it did the same for the family members and neighbors who attended.
