Venice Arboretum

These are baby live oak trees:

This flower is on a tree.  Very fragrant.

Lady palm. Small, so maybe a candidate                                                                   for my yard:

Bottle palm

Jasmine, also very fragrant

Cactus and succulants

Must take a lot of work to keep this bougainvillea in line.

Gold tree

Statue of a Florida manatee.
I did see a real one this winter!

Jacaranda are starting to bloom.

I've always loved the bottle palm. Many years ago, when I sold my then house, I had a beautiful large palm out front. The buyers wanted me to remove it as part of the purchase contract. Not only did that offend me but I was not up to the task. Guess not everyone likes palms.

We called them ponytail palms--same thing. I know people who use them as house plants. Wonder how they would do in Vt.

If you are still looking for trees for your yard may I suggest a Plumeria? They come in all kinds of colors, take very little maintenance and have a light fragrance. They grow well in Florida.

What a lovely place to be. We have jacaranda in Hawaii too. They are really spectacular, aren't they?
