Crystal Magic

Healing crystal meanings are meant as spiritual supports to healing and are not healthcare advice or prescriptions. Use the crystal meanings  to help find your own inner  truth; what is best and right for one is not necessary so for another.  Some crystals and formations have long-standing traditional uses and properties while others may have newer discoveries of uses or properties. Follow the guidance and wisdom of the Divine and of your higher self when working with crystals.

I have always been unable to resist picking up interesting rocks, shells, acorns, all kinds of bits of nature's ephemera.

I have little bowls and baskets of such things scattered around me.  I guess those things do speak to my soul in some way.  I know that just looking at them, running my fingers over a smooth surface, gives me a degree of comfort.  It is simply a way of focusing on the moment, what is right there in front of me, and letting anything else just go for a while.

A mini-meditation--benefit enough for me.

And some--a particular collection of shells, a basket of river washed stones, even pinecones--bring floods of memories from trips Mike and I took together.  I think I would grab those things before the photo albums in that disaster scenario of what would you save in the event a ...

Lately, I have been adding particular crystals to the mix because I am drawn to the colors or the textures.  I gave away some of stones in the picture above, but I also kept some to dot across the window sill next to my bed.

I think it is here where younger people would say, "Don't judge me."

  1. No judging here! That is a very informative link, too! My sister is a massage therapist and has some amazing moonstones that she uses. She sets them outdoors during the full moon each month to soak up more energy. She used them on me and let me just say -- there is magic in those stones (and in her hands).

  2. How do you use them? Just let them sit or carry them around? We have a store near here that sells them. I'm a skeptic, but I'd be willing to test them.

    1. I just like to look at them and sometimes hold them in my hands for the soothing feel. I consider it all as metaphor for something deeper.

  3. Your penchant for collecting thingies reminds me of Rylan when he was 2 years old. He was forever picking up stuff from the ground and would not let me discard them when we got home.

    1. HAHA! Are you implying that, unlike me, Rylan has matured past the age of two?;0

  4. This is the kind of thing we cannot discount. If it helps, use it. I failed meditation, though. I've taken classes. I like walking meditation.
My husband just bought a book on smudging. I am so amazed!

  5. I love the idea of your private treasures sitting around in bowls about the house. My wife and I used to geocaches, back when we still had partially functioning knees. Geocaching is finding hidden tupperware containers of treasures (mostly junk for kids) in the woods with a GPS. You find the cache, you take a treasure and leave a treasure of equal or greater value. We always would take neat stones, like lucky stones, if part of the swag. One time we found a old stye mason jelly jar with a wire spring lid retainer filled with old marbles. It was our favorite prize ever and sits to this day on the end table in the living room. It is rather mystical, but just old marbles, nothing special. Like your treasures with Mike, I couldn't put a price on that little jar, it contains a piece of our Souls.

  6. Now that you mention it, I have a few stones from some special places too. they do evoke memories. And Tom cannot resist picking up cones from various coniferous trees.

  7. I do the same thing. I have a lot of rocks in my study that I have picked up over the years. They all have special significance. Some are heart shaped. My daughter recently asked me about the rock thing. "What do you do just pick up these rocks and keep them?" Yep I do. She said, that she found a rock in her kitchen and asked her daughter where it came from. She said, "Oh, Grandma found it in the front yard and said it looked like a heart and thought we might want it." I guess they didn't. They threw it out.

  8. We keep a collection of fun rocks and crystals from our trips. Your crystals are really pretty! My granddaughter would ooh and ahh over them.

  9. I too pick up pretty rocks while walking but generally put them in my pond. Smooth ones get my attention. I love the feel.

  10. I love to hold smooth rocks I have picked up here and there, and I too keep a little collection. I don't know anything about crystals except they are lovely, reason enough to have a collection, I say.

  11. I used to collect but I have lost that I suppose my eyes and vision have a role to play or else I have lost the joy of the sparkle it once gave me?

  12. I agree. I'm always picking up a little this or that. And stones, in particular, always hold a fascination for me. I always feel that I should get a vibe from where they've been and how they were created.

Updates

On September 29, I had the closing on my condo. Everything that was not going to the buyers was out and packed in the ABF moving truck which had by the been taken over to the storage units. Don thought it would take him until Wednesday to finish packing the truck with the help of his son. It took him until late Thursday with Chris' help and mine. Kevin was supposed to help load as well but he was in a mountain bike accident and wrecked his shoulder the week before. That added driving him to doctor appointments to my to do list and dong some shopping for him plus jobs around the house that might need two functioning upper limbs.  We stayed with Kevin on Friday night after the closing and then had a suite in an extended stay place for the coming week. This was the worst possible time to have to get a room because the prices balloon during leaf peeping season if you can even find a room at all. But it was close to the storage units where we were working and it was dog friendly. We ju

Wedding

Don and I drove to South Carolina to attend the wedding of my step-grandson, Will. Will Will and Katie The wedding took place on Dataw Island, a beautiful outdoor ceremony followed by a reception in the country club. We stayed in a tiny cottage in the historic center of Beaufort, rented from Vrbo. Since the wedding was at 5 p.m., we had time to explore the area a bit. I really like the low country scenery and historical charm. Sitting quietly in the curtained gazebo I was visited by multiple cardinals. They came to visit the feeder, not me, but I can always pretend! How I will always remember Will!

Rest In Peace

In a summer that has been so wet, Sunday was a reprieve. The humidity dropped and the sun came out. It was a day that could have been special ordered by the family of a friend's husband. It was the day they had arranged his celebration of life ceremony set on the shore of Lake Champlain. I was not looking forward to the gathering, even couched as a celebration. This is a family fraught with relationship tensions. It turned out to be a beautiful day and a beautiful ceremony. A Catholic priest gave a brief but meaningful homily and two Air Force members played "Taps" and presented the American flag to my friend. I am not a Christian, but I do know about Christ Consciousness. That priest's word's filled me with such a sense of peace and love. I hope it did the same for the family members and neighbors who attended.
