Uh-Oh

I went for quite a run without, but lately they have found a way.

Yuck!

    1. I am against SPAM appearing in my e-mail or on blog comments.
As for the food stuff Spam, apparently my father was fed this during his army days. It was not allowed in our house when I was growing up. It sure does not look like something I would eat though.

  4. Know the feeling. I went years with out any, now it rears its ugly head. Kind of like the canned stuff, hate it in my mail.

  5. Some blog posts are just spam magnets! I wish I knew what the magic ingredient was. I would stop putting it in!

  6. What a nuisance! I get one every so often, I just delete and carry on but I'm sure if it got to be too much I'd probably be looking for a new e-mail or blog address.

I've eaten Spam fried....many years ago, can't imagine eating it now!

  7. For some reason I have gotten a ton of spam via my contact form this week? Not sure what they think that accomplishes as no one sees it except me? But it has been a bus week for them!

  8. Spam of any kind is to be avoided!

  9. Oh now I understand. Yes even some spammers have managed to creep by me. I simply go into design, then comments and check them then click spam and they disappear. I truly thought you were talking about the lunch meat. My kindergarten son looked at me adoringly over his plate of fried spam and canned pinto beans and said, "You are the best cook in the entire world." He did not know we ate it because we were poor. To him it was a feast and he still likes Spam. His sister never bought into the ruse.

  10. I grew up with Spam (the so-called edible kind) and didn't really mind it. My wife also grew up with it and placed a ban on it during the first week of our marriage after I stupidly placed a can in our cart hoping to save some green at the checkout counter. Her Spam firewall would be the envy of Norton or McAfee.

Her mother however, loves the stuff. She even gets Spam calendars. It cracks me up, every now and again my wife (who does all the cooking for her mother) will "treat" her to some Spam. The bitching from my wife over the preparation of this horrid substance is like the fountain of youth for her mother. It just seems to make her day.

My own hatred for things that should have never left the abattoir in the 1950s was Jiffy Breaded Veal Steaks, the horrors of which may have been limited to Western Pennsylvania. These were goo balls of fat and gristle held together by sinew and covered with sand. Compared to Jiffy veal steaks, Spam was a delight.

  11. Clever! I still get some spam also. I hate it. I hate the canned variety too.

Updates

On September 29, I had the closing on my condo. Everything that was not going to the buyers was out and packed in the ABF moving truck which had by the been taken over to the storage units. Don thought it would take him until Wednesday to finish packing the truck with the help of his son. It took him until late Thursday with Chris' help and mine. Kevin was supposed to help load as well but he was in a mountain bike accident and wrecked his shoulder the week before. That added driving him to doctor appointments to my to do list and dong some shopping for him plus jobs around the house that might need two functioning upper limbs.  We stayed with Kevin on Friday night after the closing and then had a suite in an extended stay place for the coming week. This was the worst possible time to have to get a room because the prices balloon during leaf peeping season if you can even find a room at all. But it was close to the storage units where we were working and it was dog friendly. We ju

Wedding

Don and I drove to South Carolina to attend the wedding of my step-grandson, Will. Will Will and Katie The wedding took place on Dataw Island, a beautiful outdoor ceremony followed by a reception in the country club. We stayed in a tiny cottage in the historic center of Beaufort, rented from Vrbo. Since the wedding was at 5 p.m., we had time to explore the area a bit. I really like the low country scenery and historical charm. Sitting quietly in the curtained gazebo I was visited by multiple cardinals. They came to visit the feeder, not me, but I can always pretend! How I will always remember Will!

Rest In Peace

In a summer that has been so wet, Sunday was a reprieve. The humidity dropped and the sun came out. It was a day that could have been special ordered by the family of a friend's husband. It was the day they had arranged his celebration of life ceremony set on the shore of Lake Champlain. I was not looking forward to the gathering, even couched as a celebration. This is a family fraught with relationship tensions. It turned out to be a beautiful day and a beautiful ceremony. A Catholic priest gave a brief but meaningful homily and two Air Force members played "Taps" and presented the American flag to my friend. I am not a Christian, but I do know about Christ Consciousness. That priest's word's filled me with such a sense of peace and love. I hope it did the same for the family members and neighbors who attended.
